Answers:
okay 1st. disconnect battery and RE-INSTALL.
2nd.on the right hand side of the drivers footwell (next to the accelorator pedal) there is a removable panel. remove that and inside that, fixed to the floor is an INERTIA switch (looks like and size of a 20 *** pack) this has a mercury switch for the central locking to DEACTIVE in an accident. but yours has done the opposite .. so worth trying a fresh one . go to a breakers .
only about a £15 and if its still not you can take it back.
THAT REALLY IS THE ONLY INTELIGENT PART for the central locking .. all the rest is simple mechanics. good luck
There is a security guy on Canvey Island who is brilliant. You near Essex?

I'm not an expert on bimmers but usually when you disconnect the car battery or change batteries in the remote you need to recode the remote to the car. It's usually a simple proceedure set out in the manual. For instance with vauxhalls all you do is start the engine and hit the button within 10 seconds. On fords you have to turn the ignition on and off 3 times then kit the remote button.
