Should the national speed limit on motorways be increased or decreased?

Increased. Especially the roads people travel long distances on to get somewhere a lil quicker. Well then again maybe not we have reckless teenage and college student drivers on the road. That is how my best friend was killed. He fell asleep behind the wheel after studying with no sleep for finals.

Increased, so that it catches up with reality. Car chassis, suspension, brakes have all improved as well as engines. Also, safety stystems like air bags are now commonplace.

They should be decreased beacuse people are to stupid to follow the rules.

Better yet, allow for no speed limit at all on interstate expressways, like the Autobahn in Germany.
increased, epole speed anyway and it's the slowing down quickly to avoid speed camera's that cause accidents too, look at Germany etc, in places there aint a speed limit! not many problems there, rules are always gonna be there to be broken.

I've always thought that cops should stop enforcing speeding violations, and start enforcing the two second rule.people following each other too closely is way more dangerous than speeding.
Motorway speed limits should be increased to 80mph, which as far as I can see, is the prefered limit.

We have the technology for variable speed limits where we didn't have before.
And imagine the difference between a modern car doing 100mph and a car from the 1960's when speed limits were introduced.
increased. its far to slow at the moment & germany has a faster limit than ours & it still has less accidents. driving skills should be increased as well. nothing worse than going fast if some old dear in her morris minor is only doing 50 in lane 2, which is more dangerous
By motorways, I guess you mean in Great Britian. As in the USA, speed should increase. Technology and roads are ready to increase speed while saving petrol/gas. A new car running 80 uses only as much as the same car going 70. More important though is enforcing minimum speed. Those slow pokes in the wrong lane are the reason danger has increased. If a driver is incapable of a minimum speed they should not be on motorways/interstates --- ever. Thats as in N-E-V-E-R folks.

Increased to 80mph - everybody drives at that anyway, assuming the feds won't bother with you. There's always some loony going faster than that for them to catch anyway, hoping they'll end up on telly in Road Wars!

I am a paramedic and i see the death and destruction caused on our roads all to often,
however i know the motorways are the safest roads to drive on anywhere and would not have a problem with the speed increasing after 10 pm untill say 5am,
However i would make all speed limits for housing areas 20 max,kids have no chance after 20 is exceeded and its common sense to drive slowly in built up areas,
no probs with 100 mph on the motorways after 10pm ,weather permitting..

defo increades cars these days are made with more safety gadgets and stuff lol so it should be increased if it means were gunan be safer at higher speeds
