What is a pedestrian visibility splay and or how is it implemented?

Answers:
A visibility splay is an area clear of obstruction a set distance back from the road edge and along the road, to allow drivers to see any traffic coming.
In the case of pedestrian visibility splay, this area is from the pavement boundary, to allow drivers pulling out of a driveway to see any pedestrians coming. This is normally a triangle 2m x 2m into the property, obstructed by nothing over 600mm high.
