If i overfill the oil in the engine what will happen ect more smoke or will it cause any damage?

Answers:
Drain some of that oil or risk screwing your engine up.
Think about it, oil tends to heat up as you drive, expansion occurs, compression occurs. If the oil has less space to compress into then it WILL find other areas to go..namely blowing seals and 'spitting' through into engine.
This is why the dipstick has a 'minimum' and a 'maximum'
The oil will "foam" and leave areas unprotected. Best NOT to overfill.
i own a repair shop, and it will cause it to blow a lot of oil seals and also it will start leaking from anywhere it can ,and yes it can damage the engine in it, some say it wont ,but you have to had seen one that was run over full to believe what damage it can do to it,i have seen it and repaired them that were run over filled and it does make a mess, good luck,if its over ,id get it out of there.
You have a good chance of causing damage if you really overfill - at the least you'll blow gaskets or seals because instead of crankcase pressure of hot gases you'll have hydraulic pressure.
funny you should ask this. When my Impala was brand new, 04,
the local Chevy dealer changed the oil. Fortunately, I checked it when I got home and I discovered it was way too full.
My husband was furious and called them.
Guess what they said. "It doesn't hurt anything, it'll be ok".
So, why do all the manuels state in BIG BOLD letters, never to overfill?
The other answers listed here are right on. After more research, it does cause foaming and possible engine damage. imagine that.
So, guess who changes the oil? I do.
I assume you have over filled your engine or you wouldn't be asking the question. Drain it out and re-fill correctly, yes you can knacker an engine this way.
no worry no damage gonna happene
Too much oil is similar to not enough. Major problems can occur. Too much oil created increased viscosity which in return causes more wear to internal components. The less viscosity the better. As viscosity increases wear and friction increase.
Blown oil seals, and possible dammage to cat converter
A LITTLE drop too much should not be a problem. If there is so much the crankshaft dips in it there will be a BIG problem.
RoyS
if it is the first time happen.you had nothing to worry,,,..
The oil will overspill down through the top of the engine, get into the spark plugs and the top of the cylinder head. A no no!
it will cause the car to smoke alot and to much oil will also damage the top end of the engine long term.
if it's a four cylinder-YES-correct the problem yesterday as the increased volume tends to make the gaskets fail, but more importantly a four cylinder motor suffers extreme mechanical wear to the valve train/heads in short order.
other engines-mostly just messy i.e .leaking valve covers and the like all though i have seen main seals blown. and their is that pesky carbon build up in the heads and piston rings from the oil washing the cylinder wall every time the con-rod rotates.
TOOOO much oil will blow your engine. It will build up too much pressure and blow a seal or two. If you have overfilled just let a bit out via the drain plug,
