Saxo 1.1i 2001 - juddering when going into reverse gear?

Help! My cars got one of those annoying 'intermittent' problems - when parking and reversing at slow speed the car sometimes judders with a knocking sound. Once or twice it has juddered 2 or 3 times as I've stopped in traffic. Could this be the clutch on its way out? A knocking sound accompanies the judder - sound appears to come from front of car . the car has lowish mileage (under 30K) but lots of town driving. It doesnt happen all the time, but its worrying when it does!

Answers:
sounds like the clutch could have oil on it making it judder have it checked out 30k is really low for a clutch but like althings mechanical even new fail .
If it is manual, then it is likely a syncro. If it is auto then it could be a gummed up reverse sulinoid in the tranny pan. Nither of which is a easy fix. I would suggest getting the tranny fluid changed. That and take it to a tranny shop they will know if it is something to really worry about.
its the clutch..keep driving untill u can't stand it anymore. 30 thou is low. clutch should lact 75 to 250 thou miles.
