Can i change 4speed gearbox for 5 speed gearbox in a 1987 vauxhall nova?
Answers:
i own a repair shop, and yes you can swap them out ,finding the 5 speed might be hard but if you already got one that will be an easy job to do just be care full abut how the linkage and the shifter lines up,,other than that you,ll be fine with it,,good luck i hope this help,s,,,and also make sure the axles are the same on it.
OH yes! get all the info you can before getting one though. You need to pay attention to the clutch and the linkage in particular
Of course you can !
OH yes (but do change it 6 speed gearbox)
should no be a prob i did it to a mark 2 ford fiesta 7 months ago
you may have to do a bit of jigaling thow?
I had a 1985 Nova, slammed to the ground on shortened gas-struts and springs, remus exhaust and Scorpion induction kit, 1300cc with the 5 speed box, no carpet or luxuries, just front racing seats and three-point belts, and it went like stink, stuck to the road like it was on rails. That was a 4-speed when we got it, and the 5 speed bolted straight on, no problems. C970 BUL, where are you now?
yes you can but the 5 speeds for the pushrod engines are hard to find - try looking in the 1.2 Astra and Belmont of 85 to 92 i did it it my 1.0 4 speed - i put a 1.2 and a 5 speed in with absolutely no hassle - if its an over head cam engine they are much easier to find and as easy to fit - you won`t believe the economy difference!
