Who knows a bit about trucks?

My husband and i are looking to start an exportation business. He wants to send spare parts for trucks, particularly Leyland Daf trucks. Ex. A Leyland Daf FT 85. We need to know what Engine such a make uses. What gearbox it uses, What headlights it uses.etc. We also need to know how much these parts would cost. Second Hand or New, it does not matter. no one wants to help. Agencies think that i am talking rubbish and won't cooperate. We havenever done this before. we know that it will work, all we need is a bit of help. Anyone, please, do you have information for me. Does anyone know of any Scrap Yards that have old trucks and old parts?

The business could be profitable, however, you might choose a vehicle that is more popular in the world!
I think that you realy ought to talk to people in the actual business of exporting vehicles.
the only ft prefix i can find are the 80 and 95 series both have 11.6 litre daf engines fuel injection equipment will be bosh so i would say that most of the electricail parts wil be bosh also. the gearbox is most probebly zf there is one large breaker in the uk that i know of that is walsh and dearden darwen lancashire hope this helps
in the trade as a repairer and i assure you the bottom has gone out of that one!

due to cheap flights alot of the countries that bought complete trucks or spares now come across themselves and can outbit us due to the fact they buy direct from the same places as us.

85's werent that popular anyway it was/is the 95 .

Without been rude if you dont already have the knowledge of what engines and transmissions are fitted to these vehicles how can you sell the spares?
Volvo are the sought after motor now and to a certain extent scanias.There is a good market for late tri axle trailers on air but they dont take the york diamond chassis and they are very piccy beleive me.
I think it would be beneficial to your company if you actually knew what you were talking about when it came to parts. Don't take this the wrong way, but if your not sure what components Leyland DAF trucks use how can you possibly provide a service that supplies them?
There is quit a few in the exchange and mart magerzine comes out once a week
