I'm in a few Rover yahoo groups and some Rover forums. I would suggest asking on http://www.rovertech.net

Alarm Remotes is frequently recommended. From their site:

Metro/Mini 1 button fobs
Anyone unlucky enough to need a replacement fob for the Mini/Metro fitted with the Lucas 3AS system which uses a 1 button fob will know that Rover have now deleted them from the parts list.

We have the solution. We can now 'UNLOCK' the ECU so that a fob is no longer required. You can send us your ECU or we may be able to supply on an exchange basis. The 3AS ECU is located above the glovebox. (remove the glovebox interior)

Price £20.00 plus £4.50 post & packing ( + £40.00 surcharge if 3AS unit not sent )

Is the key fob the original one?

Have you spoken with a Rover Dealer?

you need to go to rover this is the only way or have the thing riped out!
