Car Seat rule what if your car is not big enough?
Answers:
Yes the 3rd child can sit between 2 car seats if there is not enough room.
All the info is on that site, the law for sitting in the front of car if you are under 12 has changed as well.
Got this from the link below.

In the Rear Seat
The child MUST use the correct restraint, where seat belts are fitted.
There are three exemptions, where a child in this category does not have to use a child restraint. In each case the child MUST use the adult belt instead. They are -
1) in a licensed taxi or private hire vehicle;
2) if the child is travelling on a short distance for reason of unexpected necessity;
3) if there are two occupied child restraints in the rear which prevent the fitment of a third.
In addition, a child 3 and over may travel unrestrained in the rear seat of a vehicle if seat belts are not available.
It is the driver's legal responsibility to ensure that the child is correctly restrained.

I have a friend who is a childminder and was telling her about the new law last week.
Hope this helps. :-)
The 6 yr old can sit in the back between the 2 car seats hopefully you have a middle belt. If theres no room to have 3 seats this is legal.
i relly dont know on this one.but..look into as a matter of urgency..it becomes law very very soon..
My sister checked this with DVLA. One of the children can sit in the front seat as long as they have a booster, Im not sure if they can sit in the middle with the lap belt if the car is full. You can try to double check it with DVLA, but they're impossible to get through to or contact your local police station and speak to the traffic police.
No, it is better for the largest child to sit in the front on an approved/appropriate child seat, than to sit in the middle on no child seat and just a lap belt! It is the same issue as 2 seater cars and vans with 1 row of seats.common sense applies
Snap! yes, we're exempt from the rule as long as the two car seats are occupied. Then child can sit in the middle with a seat belt but no booster (won't bloody fit!). But if you're just taking the one child in the car, they have to either be in the child seat or booster, so it would mean removing one of the child seats to put booster in. Otherwise I will have to buy a people carrier and I would send the invoice to the Government!
Assuming you have 3 seat belts in the back seat. Could a Booster Seat not work for the 6 yr old ??
hiya your best bet and the most legal thing to do is contact your local police station traffic department as they will advise you on the road traffic laws and it also depends weather your in Scotland England or Ireland as each have there own laws
you must have child restraints fitted now by law with no exceptions ! you can use a booster seat for the larger child , but be aware the cops are on the look out for unsuspecting drivers as it has`nt really been advertised about the ruling yet !!
