Duck poo on your narrowboat - what to do ?
It happens, but dear knows what they eat to produce such stuff .
OK the usual cleaning products work, but sometimes leave a bit of a mark where the offending item has sh*t.
I don;t go around polishing the brass-work every day, like some boaties, more of a practical crack on type of bloke.
But moving everything off the roof to re-paint bits is a tedious process. I have used pressure-washers, violent sounding potions,
yet I go " there's another one !"
Maybe there is a duck repellant out there ?
Nothing personal against ducks, but please sh*t somewhere else.

Cover it when not in use. I hope this helps.
Buy a shotgun..shells are cheaper than paint.
put a plastic owl or hawk on the boat, it keeps all birds away, thats how i got my boat sh!t free
try covering the boat
Gas Mk 4 for 2 hours ,with 4 sliced oranges cover with chicken stock , serve with new spuds and runner beans .

they make snakes that move in the wind,owls with heads that turn and make noise,you just need to find your perfect scare crow
Know the problem - best thing is to cover the boat with wide mesh netting - birds hate it because they catch their feet in it (but get wide mesh otherwise they can't get out). So - they won't land on the boat and poop (have you got a poop deck??)
Arrh, i have the same problem.
Only way is to keep cleaning it off regularly - not much use of you live far from your moorings I know. But it doesn't stain if its onyl a couple of days old.
notice more people are fitting covers. a bit inconvenient on 60 foot i know, and where do you put it when you go out cruising.
I assume your using decent paint, Rylard seems quite resistant
Duck repellent.
Violence. Shoot the ducks with a pellet gun. They will soon learn that you make things hurt and they will stay away. I do believe the ducks communicate. You wont have to shoot but a few of them before the word spreads in the duck community to stay away from your boat.
Dogs. Get a dog to chase the ducks. The drawback to this is dog poo on your deck.
Scarecrow. Inflatable owels and snakes will work for a while. So will a human scarecrow, especially if you use this in conjunction with duck shooting.
Hazard. Netting or fish line will discourage them. You may find a dead duck spot rather than a duck poo spot.
Noise. A timed propane canon will scare the daylights out of them. You wont see a duck within 1.5 miles. Your dock neighbors may have a problem with this.
Dynamite. Place 2 sticks of dynamite under your roof deck and wire it to a motion sensitive detonator on the top side of your roof deck. This method is guaranteed to work the first time at removing the duck and you will never have another duck land on that roof deck again. I promise.
lick it! Yes I said lick it duck shhhit tastes like chicken drenched in honey trust me I've tasted it in Hong Kong. You get the good taste of duck shhhit and plus your boat is fairly clean
