Look at the lower unit for about 4 bolts about 5 inches above the prop shaft. Also, what year is your motor - the procedure can vary. Big twin is an older model I believe late 1950s to the early 1960s? What's the model#/serial# - I can tell you specifically what you have. They were pretty easy to work on back then.
There should be a little side "port" on the leg/exhaust housing about halfway between the powerhead and the lower unit - remove the screws and the cover - there may be another cover under that too depending upon the year. There's a brass connector in there that holds the shift rod. Loosen the screw/bolt on the bottom of the connector - you may have to pry it open a bit to allow the lower shift rod to drop out of the connector. Undo the bolts just above the prop and the lower unit should drop down.
The water pump impellor is under a cover in the lower unit- remove it and watch for a "key" which spins the impellor with the drive shaft. Install new impellor with the vanes pointing the same direction as before. Replace the cover. Put the lower unit back on and be sure the water tubes go into the ports up the exhaust housing. Use a flashlight to make sure they go where they're supposed to. Reattach the shift mechanism, and bolt the lower unit back on.
Check to see if your motor has a thermostat up on the cylinder head - it may need replacing too.

no never heard of one of those, what is it?
Go to Master Tech website, go into parts. They should have your motor broke down into every part avalable. It will show you every thing by number. Check it out ! Makes it easy
if you have never taken an outboard leg off before, get yourself a manual first, these can be expensive to repair if you do it wrong or try to bodge it & it is the most essential part of the motors cooling system, if not fitted properly or the right parts replaced you will ruin your engine, so if you are not sure take it to a dealer, yes I know they are expensive, so are the motors to replace it when you seize it up from overheating, you mite be able to buy a manual on a cd off ebay for a few quid, which could save you hundreds in the long run
