Can you tell me the location of the fuel pump on a 1997 vauxhall astra sport.?
Answers:
more than likely it will be located in the fuel tank
There is no need for a fuel pump on this particular vehicle 'cos it's elastic driven. isn't it????!!
Its inside the petrol tank , there userly access under rear seat although not on all models , if you are going to change it yourself
you have to remove the rubber bung then undo the holding scews . Remember to disconnect the wiring leading to pump , not a rocket science job but fiderly and care needs to be taken the pumps are not robust
It's most likely near the fuel tank usually stuffed up near the right hand rear wheel. Listen when the car has been standing for a while there is usually a buzz as it generate the pressure.

its in the fuel tank - lift the rear seat and you`ll see a u shaped cut in the carpet - lift this and you`ll then see a circular plastic cover - use a fairly big screwdriver to lift this out - you`ll then be confronted by the top of the tank. you`ll see two rubber hoses with spring clips and a block connector - use a snips to unclasp the clips and its easier to replace these with standard jubilee clamps or hose clamps. or you can fight with these to get them back on - it is possible but not worth it - now get your large screwdriver again and your hammer and you will need to tap anti clock wise the retaining ring around the edge. it only goes the one way due to the flaps that stick up and tell you when it home when installing - you will now be able to lift up the cover with rubber seal - disconnect the wires that are plugged into the bottom of the cover - they are for the level sender - there are three clips on the cream coloured housing squeeze all three in together and the pump+housing+tank cover will now lift out together. place on a bench an dissemble - get the pump from Bosch instead of vauxhall if you can its the same part and is much cheaper. the bottom filter is carefully pryed off and pushes with a struggle back on
inside the tank
in the fuel tank
