What is a standard size for roll cage tubing.?

i am looking to get a trackday rollcage made up from tubing. probably mild steel. what diameter and thickness of tube should i use. i dont want it to be too heavy but it needs to be strong enough to offer protection

Answers:
2" .065 wall (chrome moly) (4130)
2" .090 wall 1010 mild steel
All tubing should be seamless.
After welding (TIG or MIG) make sure you stress relieve the weld joints with a torch.. heat to a dull cherry red and let air cool.

If ur building for a particular racing series you need to check with the rules book for minimum specs.. id hate to see you build your cage and not pass tech when you show up to race.
