Why do drivers not use their indicators?

If you have an accident and you weren't indicating and a witness confirms this, your insurance company will drop you like a hot potato!!

Answers:
It these sort of drivers (plenty of em round my area) that i fondly refer as those drivers that got thier licsense by sendin off 12 tokens from the back of kellogs corn flake packets lol.nah seriously alot of it is down to bad habits, when uve been driving for so long u become complacent and tend to take shortcuts in the drving method, its totally wrong i agree but thats what happens!! also shows a lack of respect for other road users
people are thoughtless, careless, inconsiderate, dumb.
Because most drivers think that everyone is tuned into them mentally and automatically know when they are about to turn, either that or they think they are the only ones on the road!!
Apparently for some people, reaching up and flicking that little switch is much too difficult.

[sighs]

Drivers like that are such a pet peeve of mine.
I AM A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE ANNOYING THAN THIS. ITS JUST PURE BONE IDLENESS. TOO DAMN LAZY TO FLICK A SWITCH.
No they won't, Indicators are there purely for that reason, to indicate which way you intend to go not the way you are definitely going. It is always up to other drivers to look at other signs like the speed and direction of the car. The reason being the indicator may have broken/bulb gone. Using that as an excuse/reason for a crash would not affect any insurance claim
Coz they're w***ers who think it's beyond them! Pathetic! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!
I agree with firedup, she's got it dead right.
Yes, not indicating will affect an insurance claim.
Because most are idiots..
People driving have gotten way out of hand. They now use the slow lane as a passing lane, rolling stops are now common, speed limits huh.
I have come to the conclusion that turn signals and speedometers are "EXTRAS" on a lot on makes and models of cars and trucks and a lot of people don't order them.
Marty
I heard indicators were optional extras on BMW's
The insurance company won't be happy if the driver's failure to indicate was a partial cause of a crash, but they will still have to pay out, as they would if you were caught drink driving and crashed, they might decline to insure you in future though.
I'll use indicators if I feel like it otherwise I don't care what you think, just like you are always driving above the speed limit and you don't care what I think.
i always indicate and i do notice that not alot of motorists signal nowadays, i hate it aswell
I think it is just one aspect of driving "without due care and attention ". I suppose it is down to selfishness really. The driver knows he/she is about to turn left,is it really necessary to let other drivers know ? Of course it is so annoying to be just behind that driver, and it can be downright dangerous.
laziness
I use my indicators evey where I go .
Even on bush tracks , where there is no cars .
they are saving electricity
these drivers are known as gwig's Guess Were Im Going
Come to Texas and see most drivers here never use there signals. Merge here means not crushing the fender of the car in the lane next to you when the car unexpectedly comes across! There is a Joke, They just ran out of BLINKER FLUID.
Because they think we know what they are going to do.
(i thought that when you brought a new car the indicators were extra)no seriously I'm a lgv driver and theses p**ts who do use them must have a brain the size of a pea its just as bad as theses idiots that come to a jct on a motorway and "oh ****" they got to come off and cut in front of us
It seems the bigger the car or the richer the driver thinks they are expect indicators to be completely automatic,or so it seems. My JAG XJ220 goes like stink with or without indicators, oops.
There are three instances where I never signal.

1. When no one is close enough to care what I'm doing.

2. When signaling a lane change will cause the anal orifice to speed up and close the gap

3 when I'm in a "right turn only" or "left turn only" lane. My intentions are pretty obvious, right?
because they are inconsiderate to other road users and got there liscence from legoland
Dont know but i hate it so much! I guess the easier cars get to drive, the less people remember they're sharing the road and may have to think about their driving!
sometimes there is no need, like if you have over taken something, why do i need to indicate back in, when it obvious that i will be pulling back in!
because theyve got more money than consideration for other people. notice its all the 4x4s and rich peoples cars that are always involved in that level of ignorance to other road users
I'm sure they are not being bloody-minded, jmostly just forgetful - it's happened to me on the odd, rare, occasion. Also I believe some drivers think it unnecessary in certain instances, for instance when they think their intention is obvious. And please, drivers, realise that pedestrians find your signals helpful as well.
