Anyone know why the lights in the centre console of my 2000 Vauxhall Astra don't work anymore!?

Its the lights behind the fan control that dont light up anymore. I dont know if its because a fuse has gone or if a bulb has blown. Any suggestions? I dont want to take it to the dealer as last time they charged me £20 to tell me that my boot lock was working fine when it so obviously wasn't!

Answers:
If the other dash lights are OK then its a lamp behind the heater panel.
If you look in the owners manual it will give you a list of the fuses and what they feed.

the fuses are easy to get to as its usually behind a pop off panel somewhere around the Steering wheel.

the dash panel will be a bit trickier.

Try a Haynes Manual
maybe a fuse has gone
.
If all your other dash lights work it's not a fuse, it's a burnt out bulb.
Muppet, if theres only one bulb gone its not a fuse, is it ?but you've got to remove the panel to change it, if you've got to ask a daft question like this , do not attempt it , as you will finish up fingerless
Most times it is a bulb or two
