What is the law for child seats now?

I have a ten year old that is 1 meter 40 cm tall. Do I have to get one for him?

All children under the age of 12 and shorter than 4' 6" must use a booster cushion. Under 3's must use a child seat with its own restraints.
No. He's tall enough to do without.
I think this law is a bit daft. It would save more lives if parents actually strapped their children in with seatbelts in the first place.
Will there be any vertically challenged adults that need booster seats?? Bet there will.
every child that is under 11 should have one, but if you are not sure go down to your local mother care, halfords, toy's r us and ask them they should be able to help you.
Seat belt laws are set out in the Daily Mail today 12Sept 2006, easier for you to buy paper than me copy them, they start from monday. Law looks confusing to me.
