I know - I just heard on the radio .. it's completely insane!!
I found the whole episode so bizarre I can still scarcely believe it!
It could only happen in England!
Shocking isn't it. Does this mean that after three years he will be allowed to drive?
that's british justice for you!
What's the point of a ban - are they going to give him a licence after 3 years? The law is a muppet!
Blind man sentenced for dangerous driving Monday September 11, 05:07 PM
LONDON (Reuters) - A blind man who was convicted of dangerous driving after he admitted being behind the wheel of a car that touched 35 mph was given a three-month suspended sentence on Monday.
Omed Aziz was also banned from driving for three years at Warley magistrates' court in Oldbury, West Midlands.
Aziz, 31, who lost his eyes after an explosion in his homeland of Iraq, had been driving by

following instructions on where to steer and when to brake from a passenger who himself had been banned from driving.
When police stopped the Peugeot 405 in April this year after it had erratically negotiated two traffic islands and a corner, Aziz's passenger explained that his friend was blind.
When Aziz, who is also partially deaf, was asked to step out of the car and remove his sunglasses, the officer was surprised to see he did not have any eyes, the court heard earlier this month.
In his defence Aziz, who also suffers from leg tremors and has only two fingers on his right hand, said he was testing his driving abilities.
At an earlier hearing he had admitted driving with no MOT, no licence and no insurance
He should have received a custodial sentence!
it reminded me of the scene from Scent Of A Woman, when a blind Al Pacino was driving a Ferrari through Manhatten, being directed by Chris O'Donnell. I can see why he would want to do it, I personally love driving, but there is no excuse, he did wrong, and should have received a harsher punishment.
I know.
New wishy-washy Labour have toyed so much with the Justice System 2 ease the growing Prison Population.
This will B the first of many defies Belief sentences.
Where's the deterrent?
What made me laugh was the Judge ordered him 2 sit an extended driving test!
Stupidity!
that is insane, I see it says on there

Just testing his driving abilities?? yeah right ok
it's damn laughable. no wonder people want to come and live here. they are taking the pi++ out of us and we let them. i think that local 'everday' people should act as magistrates etc as we have our feet on the ground and are aware of the consequences that the idiot of a driver could have created -- it could have been your child at risk.
Alarming isn't, what is this country coming to ?
i think he should get three years in prison
Magistrates were required by law to order Aziz to take an extended driving test, if he ever decides to apply for a driving licence. Isn't that pathetic. Who are these clowns who make such stupid laws?
had never heard of that.damn thats crazy! Thanks for sharing it.
The conviction is unsafe as it conflicts with the disabilities discrimination act.
I know it's stupid, a 3 year ban!! He can't drive anyway after the 3 year ban
So he can drive again after 3 years?
noper
Two people were caught in a village near where I live, same day, same gun, roughly same speed , (38 and 42 mph). One got a £300 fine and four points, the other got £60 fine and three points. And this is British justice.
he should have had gene wilder next to him like in" see no evil hear no evil " they did ok ( ish ) lol
