Can i change my Q plate to a private plate?

Answers:
Good question!!
yes you can although you cant buy a plate for a vehicle which is younger than the vehicle (you cant put a plate issued in 2001 on a car originally registered 2000) and there is a surcharge for this aswell I believe ontop of the re registration fee but see the dvla website it will help you more than I can
I think you will find that a Q plate on a vehicle has to stay. To my knowledge you cannot change the plate.
NO you cant change a Q plate to a private plate.the Q means the car has been written off and repaired or the car has been made up of spare parts with no ID
I agree with lilley your car has been put on a Q for the reason it has no identity. my colleage was talking about it the other day. He recons that the Q plate is its identity and that if you have the history you could return it to its former reg. I assume that you could change it then. I dont think you can with a kit car either, unless your engine number and chassis number are first registered together. try the dvla web site in google.
