nasa did land on mars in 1997 with the Mars Pathfinder robot to do tests and take samples, now when Man will land on mars, only time will tell.

I read a manned mission was planned for 2030, then again the US changes it's mind every 5minutes so I doubt I'll live to see it.

Owing to the massive debt already owed by America, its unlikely that it will ever be able to fund that sort of manned expedition.
