Backfireing?
Answers:
Sounds to me like youre 180 degrees out of time. Right on on the timing mark but, on the wrong stroke.
maybe your 180 degrees off
Your timing is off recheck it and try starting it again.
youve put the plug leads on wrong
180 degress off or your cam might be flatt. Take the cam out and check. Check timing chain for slippage. It might have skipped a tooth or two. Did you mix up some off the spark plug wires? Recheck the firing order. If its 180 off. Take the cap off the distributor. Get the 1 cylinder at top dead center. Mark with a marker where the rotor is pointing. Take the distributor out and rotate the engine around to top dead center again. Then put the distributor back in the exact way it was before. With the rotor pointing where it was before. Try that. If it dont do nothing. You are off time some how.
are you sure you set the timing with #1cylinder in top dead center
if its still backfiring then maybe one or two valves are sticking try a compression test on all four cylinders. olso check timing is not out by 180degrees
would like to know how you did a head job without removing leads ???? dist timing is prob out
is it diesil then ??????
You've sort of answered your own question. The timing is 180 out. your electronic ignition works off a cam..remove the ignition sensor from the cam, turn engine 180 till next "T", replace ignition sensor back on the cam.then prey! lol.nah that should do it.
