Before going for a carb, I would ask to have the car's valves checked. A bad valve could cause a lot of continual missing. Not a cheap fix, but spending loads of £s on a carb, only to realize that it was valve would be horribly disheartening.
I believe it is called a compression check. They pull a plug, put a little guage thing in the hole, and crank the engine.
Also, try tightening the carb that is on it, if loose at the manifold, it could suck enough air to make for a heck of a miss. Possibly a vacuum hose, other things as well.
Good luck
P.S. My brother was a mechanic, that is where I have learned some of these things.
What?
Try a Toyota shop, I think they own part of Dihatshu.
