What type of steering lock is best for my car, and where can i buy it cheaply?

I hear that the full-cover, circular Disklok ones are by far the best, but they retail at £80! i was looking at the straight type ones, (around £20-25) but are these any good?

Cheers,

James.

Answers:
the full cover ones are the best but can be buggers to get on and off, i have a straight one on my car had it for years now, argos sell them and are reasonable.
they also sell fast fit car alarms which are the sensor type ones, and there pretty ccheap also
Try nicking one out of someones car, if you can, its crap!
the best thing to stop your car being stolen is to take out the coil lead. you pay for quality anti-theft devices such as the discklock. the straight edges ones can be kicked from the bottom i think. but even with all the best equipment there is nothing to stop a scumbag car their smashing your car windows out of badness. sad but true.
The straight bar type are worthless! Whilst they are nearly impossible to cut, the steering wheel itself can be cut through in a matter of seconds.

There is a bar type that fits between the floor board and the brake pedal, making it impossible to depress the brake pedal that should be more in your price range. The brake pedal arm is made of high strength material and is nearly impossible to cut resulting in a fairly secure system for a modest price.

About 20 years ago I purchased an alarm system -- £15 from Halfords if memory serves -- that sounded the alarm INSIDE the car. It was extremely loud, around 140 decibels, and was intensely painful even when covering your ears. I was broken into several times (Thank God for glass breakage cover!) but never lost so much as my tax disk. Not sure if they're still on the market -- some twat thief probably claimed for his hearing loss -- but it certainly worked for me!
there are many sterring locks but the cheapest thing to do is put a kill switch in there u can buy them from any auto parts store and even if they break the ingition they cant steal it just hide the swich and its easy
Disklok, the ones that go right round the steering wheel and cover it completely. May seem expensive at £80, but what price the security of your car, and how much will you lose when it gets nicked?
look in hallfords
I find smearing poo over the steering wheel keeps them away
