Why does my Ford Galaxy run on with a jet engine like sound, when I switch off?

Answers:
Hard to tell, but my guess would be the radiator fan is continuing to run for a few minutes. Many fans these days are electric, rather than being driven by the engine. Did this just start happening or has it done it all along? If it just started, then you may have cooling system problems.
