Why has fibreglass came out of my exhaust in my car and is it harmful? Does it come from my muffler?

About 10 feet of fibreglass came out of my exhaust and I was really alarmed. Did it come from my catalytic converter and is it still safe to drive my car?

Answers:
hi. you car is safe to drive. what the fibre glass is, its from the silencer, which is intended to keep the car quiet. its not from the catalytic converter, that's made from ceramic, so your OK. you may want to get a new one, but you don't have to.
Thats to do with the baffles in your exhaust you're gonna need to get a new one, it happened to my friend in her ford KA it wont cause any harm as such but it will need replacing.
It's OK. If the exhaust is still prety quiet, ignore it.
No, nothing to worry about, its just insulation material, your exhaust will just get louder. I had a V6 Granada and this happened, my,my, what a gorgeous noise! It sounded like a sports car!
