If a car is being run without water and the engine is overheating could this do any damage to a cat or exhaust

Answers:
No, but it can do damage to the engine.
It can crack a head and or blow a head gasket.
It can also warp an engine block
no but you can beggar your head gasket which will cost around £600 to fix. I understand that the citroen ZX is particularly prone to this.
only if the cat is in the way when the car is in motion.
why have you got a cat in your engine?, did you put a tiger in your tank?
Would probably damage a cat if one were under the hood. Yes, it can crack the block and you'll have to buy another engine or another car. A very expensive situation. I've been there, on the desert in 112 degrees.
More than likely you will seize the engine.
if you ate referring to the catalytic converter, YES.
What's the deal with the cat? IS there a cat in your engine? cause thats just weird

Running your car without water and proper maintenance will runi your car. I have a friend who did similar things and she cracked the engine block TWICE. The first time my dad fixed it-- the second time it did not get fixed and she ended up losing her car. NOw she has to walk everywhere or get me to drive her.
Take car of you car or else you will regret it
Oh, it's gonna do more damage that that! In fact, the cat and exhaust will probably be ok, as they will last longer than it takes for the engine to blow up and be useless. Is that the answer to your question?
Don't even try it. You will overheat the engine and the worst scenario will be you will have to replace the engine.
You should be more worried about the engine.
If you run the car without water, the engine WILL overheat and die.
I'd go and put some water in it now if I was you. Before it's too late.
my stupid mate once bought a car and she didnt know she had to put water in it.one time we were driving and suddenly the engine started smoking and exploded! we pulled over and opened the front and it was smokin for like an hour!
WHAT THE HECK?GIVE THAT BABY SOME WATER!BUT IF YOU WANT AN ANSWER,.NO.BUT.IF IT IS RUNNING WITHOUT COOLANT,IT HAD TO GO SOMEWHERE(MAYBE OUT THE EXHAUST)OUCH..BUT I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT THIS .I THINK YOU SHOULD SELL IT OR PARK IT UNTILL YOU CAN FIX IT.(if the engine is ruined, who cares if the exhaust is ok?)
I'd worry more about damaging the engine - very expensive to replace!!
I would say the exhaust is the Least of your worries, it could sieze the engine and result in a costly rebuild!
It can. You can blow a head gasket and pump enough oil into the exhaust that the cat gets clogged.
The overheating will possibly cause piston seizure whch will cause oil burning which will clog the cat, not a big deal, the car probably wont be worth repairing anyway if it has been run without water, it will almost certainly need a recon engine, plus fitting, probably not worth doing.
