I can't believe you received no answers.
?
Arrgh. You old sea dog. We set sail and hit land after six years. I'd eaten the cabin boy. very grizzley. When we finally got to the South Seas, those cannibals tried to eat my gizzard. Good job I had mi faithful parrot blue bottle to lift me to safety. Arrgh. Pieces of eight.
whats wrong with your vehicle?
Would I be correct in thinking the ship you mean is "ss San Gaspar"? I have scoured a few search engines for this and also what you ask for and come up with very little.
You mention Mill Dam drydock. would that be one in South Shields? Was the ship actually built there? I cannot find any specific details, but the link below refers to a photographic archive of the Manchester Ship Canal. ss San Gaspar is located twice within the 209 pages of this document. First is at top of page 12, which describes the photo as San Gaspar approaching Stanlow Oil Wharf on 11th May 1933. Second is below 1st record, indicating a photo of the ship at Stanlow Oil Wharf on the same date.
There does not appear to be any more information available online with regards to your ship. All I can say is that if the afprementioned photos were taken when the ship was new she was a fair age when you sailed on her.
Hope some of this helps. You could always try to track down the owners of the ship if they are still trading?
