Rover 214si Timing Belt - cost of replacement?

Any idea how much it would cost to replace the timing belt of a Rover 214si timing belt? Apparently it's in need of replacing and I don't want to risk wrecking the engine.

What cost am I looking at? Am I best to buy a kit myself and then go to a garage and to get the work done? Or get the garage to buy the belt in and do it?

about 78 quid,

good luck
Pay for a full service , timing belt is replaced anyway , PS if they say it's to late and you need the head skimming , a new gasket etc , say no and buy yourself a re-conditioned engine with a guarantee , it's cheaper i learned to late .
Go to the garage and get them to do it, it is about £100. The garage will cost the same if you supply the timing belt as most garages (to charge extra on parts to bump the price up). so all they will do, if you take a timing belt in with you is.. bump the numbers of hours in labour they do. This is so common, both me and my other half have worked in parts department at some point in our passed!
just paided £70 to have timing belt replaced included cost of new belt.
This is not a job for an amateur , the cost about £150 . You can do a lot of damage if you get it wrong
