What are the advantages of a jetski (stand up) as oppposed to a jet bike (sit down) and vice versa?
Answers:
A standup jetski is going to tire you out a whole lot quicker than the sit down jetski. Your legs and knees will take a beating on the standup. On the sitdown your buns take a beating.'
Don't forget to always wear your life jacket on either machine!'
Personal preference means alot. But, remember, you can still stand on a sit down but it's awful tough to sit on a stand up.
Didn't know there was a difference!
It is a matter of preference. I prefer a sit down, and I've seen people do tricks on a sit down. I think you have more versatility and more control on a sit down.
You're eventually going to get tired of standing. I have a 2006 Sea Doo 3 seater and love it. There's no way I'd have a stand up. You can pull a skier behind a sit down. A stand up would be too dangerous.
A stand up jet ski is challenging to learn and rewarding as your technique gets better. They are capable of freestyle type tricks depending on the rider and physically exerting. Its like skiing and motocross where there is a longer learning curve to be an expert . The sit down type easier to learn and are fast and handle well. Sit down machines have a longer range and some storage which is nice for cruising and some can tow a skier/wakeboard..A good place to check the difference is on youtube and watch some vids.
There are many advantages for both machines. One of the best advantages of a stand up is gas mileage. It gets far better mileage than sitdowns. There are two main reasons for this. One is that not many people will choose to ride your stand up which results in half the hours of use put on it. The other is that it needs much less power to propell it than the sit downs. I have worn out 4 standups in my years and at 51 I still enjoy riding my 750. I would suggest if you have the finances that you get one of each. You will then see,as I have that the sitdowns will get ridden all day long while the stand up is there for you whenever you want to use it. One more thing. You can easily burn $75.00 to $100.00 a day on a sitdown versus $25.00 for the stand up.
The biggest advantage of a stand up is exercise and skill. The sit down is my preference, but I'm an old man.
So, it all depends on what you're looking for and your athletic ability. I've seen some really impressive performances on a stand up.. much more than on a sit down.
you can get seadoo's there literally the same as jetskis but the have seats and some are a bit bigger as youcan have more than one seat look on ebay and type in seadoo you can still stand up on that one but not on a stand up one.
I'm a boat guy, so ya know that I don't like jet ski's because most people drive them like jerks ( yes we have moron's too on the boating side of things). The stand up jet ski is harder to ride requiring skill and balance (u can do more tricks on them too), the wave runner (sit down type) was invented for fat people who can't do tricks. Now before you discount me as a nasty boater, 1 night last July I was cutting across the Bay at dusk, racing home, a huge boat went past with a wave runner wake jumping it (nobody out there). I turned and looked over my shoulder, and just saw a wave runner with no rider bobbing up and down, I peel around and find that the kid jumped the wake, and slammed into a buoy that he didn't see, the kid's out cold with his face down bleeding in the water. I got on the radio, dialed in channel 16 (distress channel) called the coast guard with my position, and as much info as I could blurt out in 15 seconds, i tied a rope to myself and jumped in the water (PFD ON), pulled his face out, he came to and was screaming with a broken leg, I saw the blue lights from the coast guard coming about 5 minutes away (felt like 5 years away) and we saved him, the kid was very badly hurt, he called me and thanked me about a week later, as did his mother. Please guy's NO WAKE JUMPING !
Nobody fear, justanotherengine is here! DUHN DUH DUH DUHNNN!
A standup will work your legs and core muscles and give you a great physique. If you're not in too good of shape to begin with it's going to tire you out quick, and if you don't have a good sense of balance, you're going to fall a lot and learn very slowly. If you are serious about practicing and learning and go once a week, you can pick it up pretty quick though. But if you're just looking to fart around every other weekend or once a month with family and friends, the sit down is the way to go. Pretty much anyone can hop right on a sitdown and ride it. It takes very little skill and the learning curve is short. You can do some tricks on them though like spins slides and wheelies. I have a SeaDoo SP and it's a great boat, but I'm looking for a standup in addition to the sitdown. If you can have only one PWC, the sitdown is it. Anyone can ride it and you can ride it for long periods of time and long distances.
Well, i have recentally purchased a 3 seater waverunner, and I believe that a sit down model is better because you dont have to stand up for any reason, you can tow water toys, and you can take friends with you.
you and your date want to stand up all day?
From my personal experience sit down jetskiis are
1) More fun-can do tricks etc
2)easier to ride for beginners
3)more control
4)less bouncing because there heavier threw out
5)a bit more expensive but defiantly a worthwhile investment
Stand up jetskiis
1)less control
2)way more bouncing around
3)need more experience
4)then again they are a bit cheaper
