Raleigh mountain bike trouble?
When I had it at the right height and tried to screw the bolt back in it wouldn't 'take' - it's as though the bolt isn't long enough to screw into the bottom, but the handlebar was orginally at it's lowest height. Is this common in all raleigh bikes or have I done something completely wrong?
I will probably get around to taking it to the bike shop in town this weekend but if there's something I can do at home to fix it that would be really helpful. Cheers in advance.
Answers:
You do not take the bolt out,you loosen it.The other half with the threads is down in the steering neck.Turn the bike upside down and it should fall out.It works as a wedge to tighten inside the tube.
you probably unscrewed the bolt too much and the locking part as come off, turn bike upside down and it should come out,re-fit locking nut finger tight push bars back to required height then tighten up,
bobs ur uncle.
both these answers are right butremember the thin end enters the tube first
