What height should your child be before it is safe to allow them to sit in a car front seat with an airbag?

The car should say the recommended age, but even without the airbag, I'm sure your child should be 11 before sitting in the front seat. That is why you buy car seats up to the age of 11.

Airbags can cause serious damage to young children, once inflated. The force of them inflating can really damage their chests & face (I know it is better than being thorwn through the windscreen, but they are far safer strapped into the back seats.

i'd like to know that as well. my son always asks to sit in the front but wont let he because of the air bag. try looking at the carseats name and ring them they should know.
According to most state laws- a child must be 44" to sit on a regular seat-without booster.
Airbags are very powerful-I personally would not let a child under 14 sit in front of an airbag-they are very dangerous.
A child aged 3 to 11 can sit in the front seat of a car wearing a normal seat belt if they are over 1.5m tall. Under 1.5m, then an appropriate child restraint is recommended, but if one is not available then the seatbelt can be used - however, i would recommend the backseat and a rear seatbelt if you have them fitted.
Airbags don't come into the equation according to the Law.

On the 18th September 2006 UK law changes. A child's height will determine but in effect up to age 11 a 'child' restraint is law. From 12 the adult belt is ok.

To answer your question directly: Government guidelines state over 135cms in height but it does not state in the front, so at the end of the day its down to your discretion from 12 years of age.

i wouldnt worry about hieght or age i think safty comes first and all children should be in th e back seat of a car at least if your hit head on you know they stand a better chance there
In the US, requirements vary state to state. However, most do recommend that children under the age of thirteen sit in the back because air bags can still cause injuries and even eject children from the car. For the air bag laws in your state, check out www.safemotorist.com, click on your state, then click on the 'Learn More' link. I hope this helps.
I believe there are age and height rules set down by the DVLA Road Safety Highway Code act that would clarify this. I don't know what they are but I have been told the authorities are in the process of tightening up on this issue. Also, some vehicles do have a facility to switch off a front passenger airbag if you are concerned. Just ask you motor dealer for advice.
I'd take the first answer (sounds like a techie) However, I've been driving nieces and nephews around for a long time and as a rule if they are not 11 don't care how much they scream or what their parents allow, no child sits in front when I'm driving if there are seats in the back. Airbags have nothing to do with it. They are only dangerous if the car seat is facing backwards. Better to hit an airbag than a windscreen. As long as the seatbelt is on properly the body is flung upwards and forwards so don't worry about the airbag. Best thing to do? Get a Laguna
Height is not a recommended factor. Currently, experts recommend all children 12 and under ride in the back seat with or wothout an airbag. Usually, when I teach parents I tell them to wait until the child is 13, so they've hit 2 milestones (teenager and can sit up front). Newer studies right now though are actually showing a child benefits from being in the rear seat away from an airbag until they are 15 years old at which time an airbag is likely to benefit them in a crash like it does an adult. So, to answer your question, I would not base it on their height but rather if they are at least 13 years old, they can sit up front.
my self would not put a child in fronts seat till at least 12 4 the safe of the child air bags can be dangerous
height 4 foot 8 inches
age 10 or 11
It will depend on your state law actually. Please look into it first. You can find a summary of each state law at http://www.kidzthings.com/carseat_basics.
