Uk speed limits?

is it true that if you do 30mph over the speed limit where you are, for example 30mph zone -60mph . 40mph zone -70mph, you get an instant ban??. These guys are driving up and down my main street at about 70+mph , so if i can get the mobile camera down here they will get banned. plus i have 2 small children.

Yes it is an instant ban. Check out the website below.
Depends on the sherrif in the court, however I'm sure 30 over the limit would be seriously frowned upon and get at least a month's ban from driving. 70 in a 30 is pretty ridiculous though!
70 in a 30 zone is likely to get you banged up, let alone a ban.
Film a few of these anti-social psychos and pass it to the police and your local council. Also, a few footballs kicked or thrown out at them may cause a few skidmarks, not just on the road either!
Found this,hope it helps!

Offence Fine Costs Penalty Points
up to 15mph over the posted limit £44 £30 3
16mph to 25mph over the posted limit £45-£100 £30 4
26mph to 35mph over the posted limit £45-£200 £30 5-6
36mph or more over the posted limit £67-£300 £30 Ban 1 month to 12 months
The fines seem to be a little outdated but the speeds/penalties i beleive are still the same. The numbers at the end represent the number of points

30mph over the limit is quite serious at least 6 points and a large fine if not jail and a ban especially in a 30 zone. However this is only if they get caught. To ensure instant justiceI would wait till its dark and lob a few bricks at them as they pass. I can assure you they wont keep speeding down your street!
I do sympathise. Anyone who abuses the speed limit, especially in a residential or built-up area needs to taken off the roads completely. I deal with road safety for a charity that helped me when I was widowed (by a road crash - HGV speeding and not serviced correctly) and know to my cost just how ridiculous the penalties are for road crime.
Try to get your local police involved, and also the local authority has a duty of care for its ratepayers. Maybe traffic calming measures (chicane, or ramps) could be the answer. Don't let the authorities fob you off. Ask if measures will be taken before a road crash or are they waiting for serious injury or death before they act? Unfortunately the police and road safety partnerships don't put cameras up where speeders are a problem. They look at the accident statistics for the last two years. the truth is that if you have had someone knocked down and killed on your road and speed was an issue then you stand a good chance of getting a camera. there is nothing wrong with asking the partnership to monitor speeds of the traffic. Some of them do this but the drivers will not be prosecuted as it wouldn't be an official speed check site. If you can find one of the local drink drivers to stand in the road in front of the speeders, it would solve two problems in one.
Its not an instant ban but certainly if caught the culprit is taken to court and the court either give added points to his/her licence or banned, its all to do with the circumstances..
Get people to park their cars on the road forming chicanes. For some reason the speeders respect cars so will slow and go round them. we were trying to organise a mass park on the road in our village but did not get many takers. However the two main organisers did get an early morning (7.00am) visit from the traffic police who suddenly took an interest!
