How far apart are the emergency telephones on a British Motorway?

The orange ones on the side of the hard shoulder

Answers:
Yes, it's a mile. If you have Breakdown/Rescue membership, they suggest that you ring them if you have a mobile phone, and they will ask you for the number of the nearest marker post. They can then pinpoint you within 100yds, saving you the need to walk to the orange Emergency Phone. The Breakdown company will alert the Motorway police to your presence on the hard shoulder.

Without fail, if you are unfortunate to breakdown on the motorway, try and exit the car from the left side, and get behind a safety barrier or up the embankment away from the motorway. Even if it is pouring down with rain, it's for your own safety.
Usually 1 mile
one mile
Both above are right and if you have to stop and need assistance there are markers every 100 yards or so to tell you which direction to go to the nearest phone
always 1 mile
