KIA Pride LX 1.3 (5Dr) - Acceleration Issue?

Hello,

I have a Kia Pride LX 1.3 1994 (5 doors). I have been driving it since august 06 and it's been fine until late last week.

When i go to accelerate above say 15mph, sometimes the car judders; and no matter how far i put the pedal down, it will not go any faster. To solve the issue i have to shift down accelerate more then shift up again.

I have got used to the car and i am pretty sure that i am in the right gears for the speeds which i want to do.

If anyone has any ideas on what the issue may be then it would be appreciated.

Thanks

You may need a tune up.
Spark plug gaps too wide can cause slow acceleration, but this would be a gradual loss over time.
A cracked Distributor Cap.
A bad Ignition Module.
A dirty Fuel Filter.
Throttle Position Sensor
Water in the fuel..Did this happen after a fuel up?..Warm days with cool nights can cause condensation in fuel tanks..A bottle of Rubbing Alcohol in the tank is a cheap cure for this.
Maybe a problem with the 'Air Flow Sensor'.
A blown head gasket..Oh, that's bad!..Did it get over heated?
it sounds like the engine could be misfiring, check to see if the spark plugs are too dirty, check the injectors, and take the valve cover off to see if there's a broken valve spring, and if none of that works take it to a dealership or garage to get it fixed by a professional
If it hasnt been serviced in a whhile it may be worth it as it could be anything from fuel blockages to naff spark plugs ??
Sounds like plugs and HT leads to me. If the car has a replaceable distributor cap and rotor arm, I would replace those as well.
