Arnold Clark 41 point service?

Booked a service for Thursday but read a lot of criticism of this service. Anyone had this service from Arnold Clark? What did you think of it?

I have a Rover 214si which hasn't been running too well of late so I'm hoping this service will take care of it over the winter.

Answers:
A 'service' is just a mechanical check over & fluid changes / top-ups. They don't do ANY real mechanical repair work, diagnose faults etc.

The best you can expect is oil, filters & maybe the plugs changed.

This can sometimes cure simple running faults.
i didnt have any problems - they were very courtious and i found them reasonable. my car was very clean when i got it back!
The people at Arnold Clark are nice but the mechanics at the garage where I took my car were s**t and managed, somehow to put the thermostat on the wrong way! And as a result it cost me almost £100 to ge it put right, god only knows how they did that.
Don't do it, as they won't touch you're car, just shake a screwdriver at it and try and charge you over the odds for parts which they'll say you need. Go to a smaller local garage.
My car is from Arnold Clark + they did a warranty service, but I had to keep taking it back when they hadn't changed or tightened things, and they charged me over the odds - I don't think I would use them again.
Ask specifically what kind of oil and brand they use in the oil and filter change, and check before you drive off that the oil has not been overfilled and that it is not leaking at the filter.

All checks on a vehicle's roadworthiness are worth doing, especially if you do it yourself.

Fluid changes are worth having. However, make sure that the brake fluid is actually changed when the specific service interval arrives. This is not always done and results in rusted caliper pins, and bleed nipples. These nuts and bolts need to be taken care of, and quite often they are just ignored even if you pay people to take care of it.
I used to work for Arnold Clark and the 41 point service is a bit of a rip off as all 41 points do not apply to your car. If you're lucky it'll be nearer 20 points. For example; Check coolant level and check antifreeze content are two separate points. Check & adjust CO level doesn't apply to cars bulit after 1994 that have injection, and the list goes on and on. The car will be checked well as the onus is on the technicians to find enough faults to justify to low service price.
