Why does my car make a loud screeching noise when I accelerate?
Is this just the fan belt needing tightening, or could it be something else?
Answers:
fan belt or power steering belt slipping.Just replace them as they're cheap enough.
Yeah, sound like the fan belt to me. Adjust or replace
Sounds like the fan belt, check this out 1st.
could be the fan belt , but more likely the water pump

This is typical of old audi 80's, its a belt slipping and you should get it checked out coz its expensive to replace a whole engine .

water pump knackered?
Loose/worn fan belt or worn out water pump
if i knew there where so much mechanics out there i could fix anything myself.
SQUIRT WASHING UP LIQUID ON THE FAN BELT WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING, IF NOISE STOPS REPLACE FAN BELT!
definitly the fan belt.if it does this all the time now it probably needs replacing
Check the belts.
seems like your belt(s) are loose or worn.replace.
Defo the fan belt.
sounds like fan belt slipping, best replace the belt if its been slipping for a while, easy check to see if it is the belt slipping spray a little wd40 onto the belt then start engine if noise has gone its the belt but still replace belt ,otherwise could end up with a flat battery.
