C v joint removal on 93 clio?

trying to replace c v boot on 93 clio 1.9 diesel. cannot split joint. found a clip in middle of joint allowing me to depress shaft . still wouldnt come off. is this the right way to split it .help?

Answers:
That is the right way somtimes they stick on shaft give it a tap with a hammer as you hold clip open, it may also be the type were you have to force boot over the cv joint there is a special tool for that pupose it looks like a long cone, you have to grease it then slide boot over it as you push boot up the cone it opens it out so that it slips over joint
On alot of french cars you can't split the shaft so you need to buy a special tool it is basically a plastic cone that you slide the new boot over.
yeah the plasic cone is an option but you need to buy the stretchy boot to go over the cone its either that or take the drive shaft off and pull it on from the other end
