What are 'Parabolic Springs' and their advantages?

Wondering about fitting Parabolic springs to a Land Rover series 2. What are the advantages over the origional Leaf springs and is it a simple conversion?

Answers:
Parabolic springs give a smoother ride for normal road use.no bone shaking bumps. They get progressively stiffer as they are compressed more. They usually only have a few springs instead of the older type which are close together and almost solid.Putting the new sets on shouldn't be much of a problem.its getting the rusted old sets off that cause the heartache. If i remember right i think they give increased articulation of the axle too.Try one of the many landrover magazines like LRO for the prices for them.I used to have a series 3 a few years back and i can remember being told its easier to burn out the bushes instead of trying to get the bolts out of them.Hope this helps.
parabolic are a monoleaf spring ie they only have one spring.Remove old spring fit riser block or spacer between axle and new spring and refit using old bolts.

lighter,and more progressive than multileaf
