Do plasma TV's need re charging every couple of years or so?

Answers:
I don't know but they use up 4 times more energy than a normal TV.just thought I'd tell you!
You might want to call the company I do know that if something goes wrong it has to be shipped to out of the USA to be fixed kinda a bummer had someone have to do that.
Yes
I was told (by someone in Currys) that plasma tv's only last a few years until you need to get a new one & that it costs abut the same to just get a new one than to get the old one fixed.
I believe the really early ones did but as far as i,m aware the ones around now will last as long as a crt tv.
No. The glass panel where the plasma is, is sealed.
It is said that the tube in the plasma screens only last 3 years but I had a 5 year warranty with mine :-)
Thats what they say, every 7 - 10 years.
I have a 72" plasma tv, it has 3 years and it is working perfectly. I think this tvs are quite expensive if youwold have to change it every 5 years or so, especially if it is as big as mine
No they dont need recharging but there is a special liquid inside which needs to be replaced every couple of years but this can be very costly depending on the size of ur t.v
I was told that a plasma screen will last for 20,000 hours, which when you think about the average amount of hours you use in a week - is a lot, I think about 15 years is the lifetime - it won't break, but over time and towards the end of its life the screen just won't be as 'bright' as it was, basically the gases just get dimmer with time. But lifetime wise you're talking about a similar span as a regular tv, who doesnt change their tv every 15 years anyway!
NO! NO! NO! (Urban myth time) They are sealed units. They CANNOT be recharged, rejuvinated or otherwise re..paired.

IF the screen goes..it's time for a new one.

ps. I once heard an idiot say that LCD TV's had to be transported upright as the liquid would move (it's not actaully a 'liquid').and the person believed them!! So that's be every laptop, phone and portable TV on the planet than that can't be tilted..
no-as i said in a thread yesterday. one of the biggest myths surrounding plasma tv's is that they need "regassing" every few years. if you go into how a plasma display works you will see why-a plasma display panel (pdp) is comprised of something in the order 350000 plus pixels or "cells"-each of these compartments if you like is completely independent from the one next to it-these are filled with a gas held in a plasma state. when varying degrees of current are applied to these pixels they change colour-this is how we get our image as i said earlier these pixels are independent of one another so "re-gassing" is not possible-also with longevity with the average use of four hours a day you can reasonably expect a plasma tv to last between 12-17 years. this is assuming the tv is not abused in any way and is used for the purpose to which it is intended-although it is true to say when transporting a plasma display they should never be laid on their side as this could fracture the glass panel. a normal large crt television can produce something in the order of 11000 volts at the final anode-the final voltage required to produce an image on a plasma is nowhere near this-150 200 volts dc at most. i beleive its because one of the characteristics of a pdp is that they get warm-so giving the impression they use a lot of current.
no. are you kidding. please. re charging, you seem to have a mobile phone mind. plasma t.v. just plug and go. no re charging, unless of course you used a charge card, then, and only then, will be re charged over and over again until you are poor.
