Are there any digital cameras out there that don't have a delay when taking a photo ?
Answers:
Yes.The Leica compacts have only a fraction of a second delay, also, fixed focus, lower price cameras are pretty instant, because they aren't doing any focusing.
If you partly depress the shutter button and allow a camera to 'pre-focus', then you can usually get an instant response from any camera. Just keep the button partly depressed until you want the shutter to fire. This depends on your prediction of where the action is going to be, of course. If you are just generally irritated by the long delays that some cameras subject you to, then have a look at the Leica. Some pose value with them as well.
Some of the Canon Eos range have short delays as well, but they are quite big, DSLR cameras that take more carrying - and paying for. If you want a DSLR, you could also look at Nikon, and Sony have just released a nice looking one, but I don't know about shutter delay times. Many makers quote the shutter delay, if you look at the tech specs. There is always a delay, but it can be a fraction of a second, which is much more convenient.
rule of thumb is that the more expensive the camera is the faster it will be able to take a picture and process it. To get a good one you are looking at a few thousand pounds tho.
the worlds best cameras have a delay on them if your using autofocus.
a common problem people think they have with their cameras is that they press it and they expect it to take, the camera has to focus first, unless you have a manual focus option (not advisable unless your using an SLR).
a good way to get the picture taken quickly is half press the button down, this will cause the camera to focus and it will hold it, then you fully press it down and the photo will be taken quickly.
the fastest camera is just like a old 35mm unit, a dual reflex
Kodak EasyShare CX7430, 4.0 mega pixels
Hiya
I purchased a Kodak Easy Share Z740 following extensive reasearch of reading reviews of this camera. Must say it is one of the best digital cameras i have had and thats quite a few! It is extremely well priced for what you get ie 5 mill megga pix, and 10x optical zoom. Picture quaility is excellent when printing. I got mine after doing price search on pricerunner.co uk and amazon.co.uk, wich included free delivery, Happy Days!
Good luck.
if you dont use the flash my canon hasnt got a delay also if you need a flash and are waiting for the perfect shot do you knoe you can depress the shoot button halfway and it will get ready for you
Delay when taking photo can be split into few categories.
1. In Auto Point and Shoot camera the delay might come as in AF and then for the camera to take the photo.
2. In SLR camera when the camera focusing (1/2 press) and then taking the photo (full press)
All this delay as a result of camera focusing.
If you're saying about not including the focusing time (already focus just taking picture) then
Canon 5d <2s from power off to shot
Nikon D200 0.0s from power off to shot
But then there's another delay in taking photo as in Burst mode.
At the moment the fastest Burst mode camera (digital) will be:
Nikon D2H at 8fps
So probably what you need is a more detail question
u need a SLR camera
I believe there will always be a delay on a digital camera - not only does it (usually) have to focus, it also has to calculate the appropriate aperture setting, shutter speed, ISO speed, and then white balance too. On a film camera it's usually just focus and aperture which can be very quick, but there is still a slight delay.
The more expensive and newer the camera, the faster the electronics will be to do all this stuff, but there will always be a delay (especially in auto-focus because it has to move the lense elements about with motors) UNLESS you set up your camera manually and take all these responsibilities away from the electronics, but likelihood is that you will end up with rubbish photos as digital cameras are very sensitive to changing conditions!
The fastest I have seen reviewed is Casio Exilim EX-Z110.
It can take a single shot in 0.08 secs ! It's a 6MP camera with 3 x optical zoom. Available for under 125 pounds.
yes.
