How do I turn off the loud welcome noise on my Nokia phone without just having it on silent all the time?

It's a Nokia N70 and the noise is very loud, but there are no options within Settings to disable this annoying jingle!

Ok when you swtich it on and you know that the loud noise is going to come on just press any key and that will get rid of it, thats what i di with my noki 6630, i can't stand it either.
I'm sure someone else will give you more accurate details but its not in the sound settings, you need to find the welcome screen settings and there should be an optino to have sound on or off. there is on other nokias anyway!
Turn "off" the warning tones.
same problem with my N70 - a couple of options-
rather than turn it off e.g - when you go to bed, just put it into offline mode. Then when you go online - no annoying jingle!

or - just hit any key as tune starts to end it.

It's a painful tune!
