Analogue or digital network?

I know its an arb question, but does anyone know if the telephone network(landline) in South Africa is analogue or digital! Pls no bs! Thanx!

Hi

I lived in Durban and basically all the telephone wires run on 2 copper wires to the houses.
One way to check if the exchange is digital or analog is if you are able to dial out with touch tone or pulse. If you cannot use tone, you are still on the old analog systems.
Some lines are obviously digital, if you have ISDN, ADSL or diginet lines.

Most urban areas are now capable of running digitial (Johanessburg, Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria).
As far as I know, there is no fibre optic availablitity to general public, which would be pure digital.

Hope that helps

Cheers
As far as i know it is probably analogue but still capable of running digital
It's probably a combination. Some telephone central offices may be analog and some may be digital. Also the different routes and hops that your call would make along the way could be both too.
it depends on how technalogicly advanced they have gotten
