Answers:
Stick to TomTom. I've been using it for years. You can easily update the POIs, navigate round the screens, upload new maps, voices etc.
As for the comment 'stick to maps' - great, let's all go back to the stone age! Modern sat nav is great, although 'first acquisition' can still be a pain. A map requires thought, checking where you are, where you're going & can be a pain to re-route on the fly. And can it get you from your front door right to within 10' of your destination by just typing in a postcode, or address? I thought not, you'd need a road map & a street level map for every town & village in that country.
There are a load of cheap sat nav units going about - they're all inferior to dedicated systems. A PDA based system is an excellent compromise.
I have a Navigon and I am very happy with it, I am sure Tom Tom is good too
a normal ordinary map is best.. cant run out of batteries.. *grin*
i travel 50,000 miles ayear and have tom tom 500 . it hasnever let me down yet so i guess thats as good as it gets.
Tomtom is very good, i wouldnt be without it. However, it does have an obsession with motorways and some blind spots.. It doesnt even know Worksop exists!
Also, always have a map in the car, just as back up.
