Would I need a TV licence if I bought a TV card for my laptop?
I'm going to have a look at TV cards, I don't even know what one looks like or how much they cost, but as I am moving out temporarily, I would like to have access to TV.
Answers:
If you're a student living in rented accomodation it says you need a licence of your own.
Frankly though they probably can't pick up what you're viewing on your laptop screen so there's no reason to let them have access to your laptop. If there's a TV license for the house (the address must be for the house and not individual rooms or flats) and anyone from the TV License board asks, you're all immediate family ;-)
In a word, Yes.
Yes.
Do I need a licence?
If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you need a TV Licence. You are required by law to have one.
How much does it cost?
A colour TV Licence costs £131.50 and a black and white licence costs £44.00.
I believe you will need to. Even the new mobile phones with TV access will one day need a licence. All you need to know is on http://www.tv-l.co.uk/information/index..
Unfortunately, yes
I think so yes
I am basing that on the fact that during the world cup you needed a licence to watch the football online.
Although having said that you dont need a licence for a hand held tv
Youre best bet is to phone the bbc licence place and ask them
yes you would unless your new landlord etc already have one.. as the tv licence covers the address not the amount/type of tv's
Yes you need a licence for appliances that can receive TV signals
Yes if the place you are moving to doesn't have one, one TV licence covers a whole house, but if it doesn't you will need a licence
if you from uk yes ..remember the little 8 bit handheld console sega game gear?? there was uproar becuase kids were being told they would need tv liciences to use the tv module
but be honest what are the chances of being caught..tv vans can only pic up radio waves ..if your streaming then i wouldnt worry about it
Yes, unless someone you share a house with allready has one.
I think you only need one license for each address at which you're TV's at. If you'll only be watching TV on your computer, then you'll need a license. If however, you have a normal TV too (where you'll be living), then you need a license for that TV. Check out the TV licensing website for clarification.
Like anyone would ever find out
yes
i just bought one last week and had to fill out a registation form.so YES is the answer.
