Is my Sony Ericsson W550i broken?

My phone ran out of battery and when I plugged it in to recharge it is just having none of it, all I get is a blank screen, the phone does come on but just shows a blank white screen? Has anyone else had this problem? NIGHTMARE. My provider says they will replace it but they don't repair and return so I will have lost ALL my pictures, music etc.
I had only had it 2 weeks so it is not as though the battery is old.

it must be faulty, return it back and have it replaced with a new one.
Careful girl..my erricsson went dead on holiday,when i got home i had left my charger at the hotel so i bought a new one.when i plugged it in nothing happened,i took the charger back and got a new one..same happened,took that back and the next was the same,but i left it overnite and it was charged.If you battery is flat you will ge a blank screen but leave it an hour or so and it will begin to charge..good luck.
