Nokia N80 Wireless Connection Idiots Guide?

I am a but thick and cant connect my new phone to a wireless access point. I've found how to search for one and when I to connect get an error message either saying 'connection not found' (even though I have found it) or a Gateway error.. I just figured I could connect easily anywhere. My router needs no password to connect and isnt encypted.
I got the phone from Orange in the UK. Is there a simple setting that needs to be changed?

Assuming same menu as N91:

Menu > Connectivity > Connection manager > Available WLAN
then select your wireless network and > Define access point.

Or:

Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points > New access point.

You really ought to secure your wireless router tho'.

Edit: also need to set your IP settings if your router is not DHCP enabled. In Access points select and edit your myWLAN access point then Options > Advanced settings, and manually enter your IPv4 config info.
