Don't bother with a ps1 anymore, ps2 is quicker, has better quality and more games and beside that the ps3 is out soon!
If you have already played on a PS2 you will be VERY dissapointed to revert to a PS1, the graphics and gameplay just don't compare. Technology moves so quickly there is always something better on the horizon.
I would say a PS1 is fine for a younger child. If you enjoy your games and want good quality, loading, variety of games then you need a PS2. If you are a die hard gamer start saving NOW the PS3 is out soon..Ican't wait.

give away price?! they should just give it away ! lol ps2 has better graffics and games u can play ps1 games on the ps2 but not vice versa oh and wait for it if the need suits ya u can watch a dvd too on the ps2
eddie you must be a clown
its not a good quality the graphics are a bit c**p abd u can only get old games on it
Power, the PS2 is an advancement in every department, it's the next generation of the PS francise.
Speed, better graphics and DVD storage which equates to more complex and involved games with richer visuals. PS2 is much better but games on the PS1 are still good.
not much difference jus the weight and size
ps2 is lighter and smaller. if u r getting at a very resonable price then go for it.
take care.
if i were you i would get the ps2 or start saving for the better faster ps3. The ps2 can play ps1 and ps2 games, it is much faster. I have the first two systems and want the new one. The new one is bigger but ae capable of playing all the games and are supposed to be more fun with graphics and games. The first two have the same controllers but the third one has the same controls and long handle's.:) :)
The main differences are improved graphics, dolby digital sound and built in DVD player. I suggest getting a PS2 as it can also play PS1 games, though you have to buy a PS1 memory card to save game data (not compatible with the PS2 memory cards even though they fit the same slot). Plus i don't think anyone releases (or even sells) new PS1 games anymore.
