Need to buy a tumble dryer.Any recommendations? what do i look for and avoid?

There are two types of dryer vented and condenser.
As a rule vented dryers come in two sizes small and normal 580mm x 600mm (washing machine size)
If you are going for a small vented then white knight vent at the rear, and have an easy to get at fluff filter (just inside the door) Some models have a reverse tumble action which means the drum spins one way for a short period, then it spins the other way (it does not mean that they use less electricity ignore the no brain that posted that on you answers)

If you are considering a full size dryer then vented is the cheaper option. The same applies you will have a large white pipe that you can vent out of a window or drill a hole in the wall and buy a venting kit. If you get cheaper electricity at night consider one that has a timer.
Condenser dryers are the top end of the market and the main advantage is that they require no venting. The moisture that is taken from the damp clothes is condensed and collects in a plastic tray. This is normally at the front of the dryer for easy emptying. You will need to empty the plastic tray, dont worry if you forget they have a cut out that stops the dryer if the tray gets full.
Lastly energy ratings.
Tumble dryers are like giant hair dryers and for the most part are not the most energy effiient appliance in the home. Again for the extra £10 or £20 the difference between a E or F could mean a saving of £30 per year.

look for one that has reverse air because I believe they are the cheapest to run
buy a 'white-knight' electric one. £99.. small and very good.. ive had mine for 5 years and its great.. all you need to do is clean the easy found** fluff filter by hand every once-in-a while.its also got a special vent so it can sit anywhere.. good luck and happy tumbleing!!
