Orange mobile contract problem re length of contract - any good ideas?
When i upgraded my phone last January i signed a new contract for 12 months. I did this in an Orange store. I wanted to take up their existing customers get same deals as new customers offer but they are saying i signed up for an 18 month contract.
I have been to the store who 'promised' to find my original paperwork but haven't either phoned me to say they found it or sent me copies, the store won't return my calls (i don't live near the store anymore so can't really go back again). I've also called 150 Customer Services (who say the stores are nothing to do with them and they can't help).
Any ideas about how i can sort out my contract, who do i complain to if the store won't speak to me and its 'nothing to do with' customer services? I don't even want to stay with Orange anymore.

Whatever you do please do not follow the advice of the first person. Instead of taking you to court the most common action by a phone company or any other utility company is to "sell on" your debt to a collection agency. This is recorded against your credit history and can adversely affect your chances of getting credit in the future. Your best bet would be to call Customer Services and ask for the address of their complaints department (you can probably find this on the orange website if you don't want to talk to them). Write a letter to the complaints department and post it recorded delivery (so that you have proof) explaining that you took out a 12 month contract and that you do not intend to be held to a longer period. Most times this is the point at which the company will fold and agree to cancel the contract. If not, or if they find evidence you have signed an 18 month contract then you should be aware that after a certain period (normally 6 months) you are entitled to downgrade your contract to the lowest tarriff (normally around £10). You can then pay out the rest of the contract and chalk it up to experience.
You should contact Orange once again.

Make a habbit of talking to their customer care number once a day.and realise them that you suffers a lot due to orange and the store from where you had bought that stupid thing.
