Do you have an LCD or Plasma TV that you've discovered won't work with HD? Wrong connectors or poor resolution
Hi. I'm a technology journalist with the BBC. I'm looking for anyone who has bought and LCD or Plasma TV, only to discover later that it won't work with High Definition. Maybe it doesn't have the right connectors, perhaps the people in the shop told you it was HD ready and it doesn't. It may be one of those HD 'compatible' TVs which don't actually have enough lines to display true HD.

I know someone who bought a Philips LCD HD ready TV just before the World Cup, and the darned thing might as well not say HD ready on the front. My friend has HD Sky and the Sky box won't connect to the TV. Apparently, the Philips TV has DVI connectors, whilst the Sky box has HDMI connectors, and never the twain shall meet! My friend spoke with Philips about it, and they reccomended some analogue cable that converted DVI to HDMI, but the quality is really poor, as you would expect going through an annalogue cable.
Comet - where he bought the TV from, could only apologise, as apparently they were none the wiser about this issue, and though that HD ready is HD ready, but although weren't prepared to completely replace the telly, stated that they no longer sell TV with DVI connectors (of which Philips used to be the main culprit). Sadly, his HD ready TV is about as ready as my old Sony Trinitron!
