Which is the best website to buy digital cameras from?
Answers:
As everyone is saying B&H is the way to go i buy everything from them usually cheaper then i can in the town i live . Dont try to save money by going to someother chepo website either youll get burned in the end . Im so impressed with the place i want to go to NYC to shop at there superstore in person .
http://bhphotovideo.com has been reliable for years.
go to Best Buy
camera could get damaged in the mail
Abe's of Maine has some good deals, as does buy.com (rather limited selection, though).
I know this doesn't answer your question but consider buying one from a High Street shop. You know where they are if there is a problem and you can still pay by CC. Also, you can get personal service and advice. (PS I don't own a camera shop!).
(Added after seeing comments below) It is true that a local supplier may not often be so close. I checked out the bhphotovideo website. I could not find shipping price for the UK! Apart from that, their prices seem reasonable - and you can always e-mail them.
Good luck!
I will second http://www.bhphotovideo.com
I've bought several cameras from them. You speak to people that understand cameras, not a teenager from the local Box Box Mart.
There are a ton of lowball sites that will take your credit card info and hold you "hostage". They typical scam is:
"We don't have your camera by itself - we're all sold out"
"What we have left is a kit that contains the camera, a tripod, extended warranty and a bunch of other crap you don't need."
Then when you threaten to cancel the order they remind you that there is a 15% restocking fee (even though they didn't restock crap). Do yourself a favor, shop with striaght shooters.
I'm also in favor of the local shop but, often times there is no local guy close.
try www.bhphotovideo.com. they are very reliable and can deliver anywhere in the world. they are cheap too!

If this is your first digital camera you may want to do some research first on what features make a good camera.
